Drivers reminded not to drive under influence of alcohol

Driving when under influence of alcohol or drugs is an offence for any person who drives on the public road going to such an extent that the driver is incapable of properly controlling his/her vehicle.

A police officer shall be empowered without warrant to arrest any person contravening this law. As the festive season approaches, all road users and drivers and vehicle owners should be encourage to use the roads wisely and respect the road safety rules and the laws and other persons using the road. A person who drives under the influence of alcoholic beverages is not allowed to drive a vehicle on a public road. Everyone has the responsibility to ensure that the roads are safe. Police will be on standby to respond to any reported drunk drive cases and public is ask to report or make a call to police free line to report any driver suspicious of drunk drive. Police action will enforce the full force of the law and have that drunken driver arrested and their driver’s license suspended.
